課程概述 |
This course seeks to introduce students to the concepts and methods in nutritional epidemiology so that they will be able to design, analyse, and critically evaluate epidemiological studies relating nutritional status or diet and health outcomes. Though diet and nutrition are central to health, there are challenges in nutritional epidemiological studies that will be discussed in this course. This course will also review current state of knowledge regarding optimal diet to achieve better health outcomes. |
課程目標 |
At the end of the course the students should be able to:
1) Describe different research designs used in nutritional epidemiological studies.
2) Understand common dietary assessment methods, their strengths and weaknesses, and their applications in research.
3) Critically evaluate research papers in the field of nutritional epidemiology, keeping in mind the influence of various biases and measurement errors that may affect study validity.
4) Be equipped with basic research ability (design and conduct a study, data analysis, scientific writing and communication). |
課程要求 |
The course will be offered in English. Basic understanding of nutrition and epidemiology is preferred but not required. |
